First Under 16 finals in seven years

May 21, 2026

Celebration time for Gaeil Colmcille/Loughcrew Gaels after their win over Na Fianna in the Division 1 Hurtling Shield final at Grangegodden

For the first time since 2019 Meath will host Under 16 finals. A total of 18 football and hurling league titles are up for grabs over the next six days.

On Sunday Ballinlough and Gaeil Colmcille will host three finals each. Simonstown and Dunboyne will contest the Division 1 football final. This is a repeat of last year’s Under 15 Division 1 championship final. That day the St. Peters boys upset the odds by beating the tournament and league winners and claim the Paddy O’Brien Cup.

After winning last year’s Division 3 Under 15 championship Killary Emmets star continues to rise. They take on Dunshaughlin in the Division 2 decider. The Black & Ambers won last year’s Under 15 Division 2 football league title.

On Monday Navan O’Mahony’s and Kilmessan will meet to decide the destination of the Under 16 Division 1 title. The town side swept all before them in last year's Under league and championship. The festival of finals concludes next Tuesday with the meeting of Boardsmill/Rathmolyon and Dunboyne in the Division 2 hurling final.
