HS Meath Awards: Senior Club Footballer of the Year

December 30, 2025

Summerhill were winners of the 2025 Keegan Cup

In a year when the race for the Keegan Cup was more a marathon than a sprint, Summerhill used all their experience and knowhow to win when it mattered most.

With just one win in the group games Summerhill had to rely on a superior score difference to Dunboyne to qualify for the knockout stages where they then showed their true mettle.

For the champions there were some brilliant displays from Ronan Ryan, David Larkin, Adam McDonnell and Adam Flanagan. Ratoath’s Jack Flynn was imperious in the semi-final win over Skryne while Cian Rogers eye for goal was crucial to his team’s win over Donaghmore-Ashbourne in the quarter-finals.

Niall Finnerty was outstanding for Skryne as they burst out of the championship blocks while Ruairi Kinsella’s display in the semifinal loss to the ‘Hill was as good as it gets. Oisin Martin stood out for Wolfe Tones while Keith Curtis scoring prowess had Rathkenny within touching distance of the knockout stages until that late, late Meath Hill two-pointer.

Our choice as Senior Club Footballer of the Year is Summerhill’s Ronan Ryan. The full back and Keegan Cup winning captain came out on top of every battle and drove his team on mercilessly. In a club championship where many of Meath’s county stars running on empty after their heroics during the summer, Ryan was never at anything below his best.
