Two clubs dominated the intermediate grade in 2025 as Kilbride won the final of the year against Castletown to return to the senior ranks for the first time since 1978.
Anthony Moyles’ side had a perfect championship record and coming down the final straight finished with a burst in the IFC final to inflict a first defeat of the year on Castletown.
It was final for the ages and throughout the campaign Kilbride had some outstanding performers in the form of David O’Leary, Andy McWeeney, Conor McWeeney and Josh Harford.
Castletown looked like having the perfect season with Rian McConnell, Killian Smyth, Darren Finney and Darragh Weldon in inspirational form.
St Patrick’s came as close as anyone to stopping Kilbride with Jamie Murphy’s two-point heroics a standout, while Gearoid O’Malley added to his already impressive reputation with some stunning displays for St Michael’s. Conor Harnan was in excellent form for Moynalvey throughout the championship.
Our Intermediate Club Footballer of the Year for 2025 is Kilbride’s Conor McWeeney. Scorer of 2-10 in the knockout stages of the championship, he was the player Kilbride always looked to when under pressure. His ability to run at defences and land crucial scores made him a match winner when it mattered most.
