Carnaross 4-11 Slane 3-09

Carnaross and Slane played out an enthralling encounter in this Division 9 Round 2 fixture.

Carnaross dominated the early proceedings with John L McGee causing havoc netting two goals. The midfield partnership of Tommy Brady and Dermot McGee had a firm grip on primary possession and were getting forward at will. Slane kicked to life before the conclusion of the first half registering 1-4 in the last 10 minutes. The corner backs of Michael and Cian Yore were excelling in denying Slane's forwards any space. At half time, Carnaross lead 2-6 to 1-4 having played the majority of the football despite the damp conditions.

The second half continued in similar vein with both sides swapping scores. Both teams introduced substitutes constantly as the players fatigued. The Hoops pressed the home kickout constantly which reaped huge reward. Shane Casserly excelled in this purple patch as John L McGee grabbed his hattrick. Ciaran McDonnell added a point before the evergreen Ollie Murphy hit a quickfire 1-1 seconds after his introduction. Paddy Farnan and Cormac Yore were constant outlets all game and never stopped running. Slane emptied their bench and as Carnaross tired, the game entered the final and chaotic stage. Slane registered 2-3 in the final 10 minutes as they laid seige to the Carnaross rearguard. Shane McNiffe saved a certain goal from a Slane substitute as the clock ticked toward the red. John L McGee kicked the final score to cap his impressive haul at 3-5 to guarantee the Ross the victory.

It was a fantastic mix of youth and experience with ages ranging from 18 to 49.
