St Brigid’s (Roscommon) will play Moycullen (Galway) in the Connacht club senior football championship final in two weeks’ time after both emerged victorious from their respective semi-finals this afternoon.

St Brigid’s were 1-21 to 3-8 winners over Mayo counterparts Ballina Stephenties at Dr Hyde Park, reaching their first senior decider in the western province since 2023 in the process.

Ballina had the perfect start with Ben Thornton’s long ball in ending up in the hosts’ net after three minutes, but Senan Kilbride’s goal at the other end would storm St Brigid’s in front before Evan Regan grabbed another goal for the Mayo men in the 17th minute.

The Roscommon champions got on top again with the help of points from Brian Derwin, Ben O’Carroll and Conor Hand prior to a Ruaidhrí Fallon two-pointer sending them towards a 1-12 to 2-1 half-time lead.

Ballina would grab a third goal through Thornton early in the restart, but St Brigid’s were able to comfortably seal their final berth with the help of scores by Derwin, Charlie O’Carroll and Ronan Stack.

They now get set to face Moycullen for the provincial crown on November 30th after the Galway champions dealt Leitrim Gaels a 4-13 to 1-9 defeat in Salthill.

Goals from Dessie Conneely and Fionn McDonagh helped the home side to lead by 2-9 to 1-2 at half-time, with Garvan Jones bagging an early goal for the Gaels.

Fiachra McDonagh and Fionn McDonagh added goals in the second-half for Moycullen to help secure a 13-point win in the end and bring the curtain down on their opponents’ remarkable campaign which saw them winning their club’s maiden Leitrim SFC title last month.
