One of the county's best-known hoteliers, John J Keenan passed away at his Coast Road, Blackrock home on May 4th, 2014. A native of County Tyrone, John had overseen the running of Bellingham Castle in Castlebellingham for more than four decades, which became a popular meeting point for sports followers along the old main Dublin-Belfast road. He was a keen GAA player in his younger years and lined out for Castlebar Mitchels during a spell in Mayo, winning a county senior medal with them. John supported and watched most sports over the years but his favourites were gaelic football and snooker.
