Former Newtown Blues and Louth footballer Paul Judge of Brookville Park, Drogheda passed away on Friday, July 21st, 2017. Paul gave great service to both club and county on football pitches around Louth and beyond during the 1960s and '70s. He represented the Blues during their greatest era, collecting the first of his six SFC medals in 1964 when he was introduced as a substitute during the final victory over Clan na Gael at Ardee. The second youngest of six brothers, all of whom won championships with the Blues, Paul was a starter for the 1966 final victory over Cooley.

Blues subsequently collected further Joe Wards in 1967, '69, '70 and '74 and the brilliant Paul Judge was still in the starting team when they saw off Cooley again in the 1974 decider, chipping in with 1-3 as the Newfoundwell outfit prevailed by 1-6 to 1-5 for their 13th senior championship success in total and sixth inside a decade. The winning goal Paul notched that day is remembered as one of the best every scored in a Louth county final. A brilliant forward who led many top defenders a merry dance, the Blues man represented Louth at both minor and senior levels.
