GAA played a huge role in the life of Eilis Fanning (née Clarke), late of Upper Mell, Drogheda, who died on September 17th, 2016, at the age of 95. Eilis' father, Jack Clarke, was a selector on Louth's 1912 All-Ireland winning team and she played camogie for both St Eithnes and Louth alongside her sisters, Vieva and Bryda. She regularly cycled to Ardee and Dundalk to attend GAA matches. For 59 years she was happily married to the late Hugh Fanning, who played football for Wolfe Tones and Louth.
