Cahir Healy has brought the curtain down on his long inter-county career with Laois and London.

The former dual star announced his retirement following London’s recent Tailteann Cup exit at the hands of Antrim. He spent 10 years travelling home to line out for his beloved Portlaoise and Laois before making his London debut at the age of 35 in 2022.

Paying tribute to the veteran star, London manager Michael Maher said: “I remember vividly making contact with Cahir as soon as he decided he was transferring from his native Portlaoise to play his club football in London. Having come across Cahir (whilst he was still playing for Laois but training with London) in 2019, I remember being struck by not just his ability, but his leadership qualities and the intensity he brought to training sessions.

“I knew he would be an integral part of the team we wanted to build moving forward and looking back now, it was a phone call I am delighted I made.”
