Dublin dished out a 14-point defeat to Kildare this evening to get up and running in Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling League.

It finished 2-19 to 0-11 at Parnell Park, where Niall Ó Ceallacháin’s side bounced back from their opening round loss to Clare last weekend in emphatic fashion.

Ronan Hayes bagged a goal for the capital men inside the opening five minutes of this derby clash and he’d rattle the net again five minutes later as the Lilywhites trailed by eight points inside the opening quarter of an hour.

Jack Sheridan pulled back a couple of scores for the visitors, but they were wiped out by Donal Burke at the other end as Dublin moved towards a 2-8 to 0-5 half-time advantage.

Sheridan (free) sent over the first point of the second-half ahead of Burke, Dara Purcell and Diarmaid O’Dualaing all sailing over scores that helped the hosts into a double-digit lead as they kept things to script against their neighbours by condemning them to defeat in their first outing of the league campaign.
