Castlehaven retained the Cork Premier senior football championship title this afternoon by handing Nemo Rangers a 0-16 to 0-11 defeat at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

Nemo held a 0-8 to 0-7 lead at the end of an airtight first-half in which the teams were level six times, and the second-half would see the holders outscoring their opponents by 0-8 to 0-3.

Brothers Brian and Michael Hurley combined for 0-9 over the hour, with Brian’s free in the 53rd minute moving Castlehaven 0-14 to 0-11 ahead before the points of Michael Cahalane and Jack Maguire secured them back-to-back titles in the Rebel County.

In Ennis, Eire Og made it three Clare senior football championship successes in four years by seeing off Kilmurry-Ibrickane 1-10 to 0-6.

Having fallen 0-3 to 0-0 behind in the opening 10 minutes, the Ennis men levelled with a Gavin Cooney goal in the 11th minute and went on to hold a 1-4 to 0-4 lead at the break.

Points from Cooney, Colm Walsh-O’Loughlen and Mark McInerney (free) extended the Eire Og lead before Philip Talty’s point on the hour mark wrapped up the title for them.

In the Kildare senior football championship final, Darragh Kirwan’s late point secured a 1-7 to 1-6 win for Naas against Celbridge at the newly revamped St Conleth’s Park.

The holders’ goal came after eight minutes via Dermot Hanafin and scores from Kirwan (free) and Neil Aherne saw them towards a 1-3 to 0-4 half-time advantage.

Celbridge would hit the front with a Hugh McGrillen goal six minutes into the resumption and, after drawing level twice in the closing quarter, Naas got what proved to be the winner from Kirwan with a minute left in normal time.
