Cathal McShane is set to remain sidelined for Tyrone’s crunch All-Ireland SFC second round showdown against Armagh in Omagh on Saturday evening (7pm).

McShane missed the latter part of the Red Hands’ league campaign through injury and, while he was listed among the substitutes for their Ulster SFC opener against Monaghan, the Owen Roes clubman did not travel to Salthill two weeks ago for their first round-robin clash against Galway.

Tyrone saw Frank Burns sent off in that 0-16 to 0-13 defeat to the Tribesmen and, speaking to wearetyrone.com, joint-manager Brian Dooher says the two losses present an opportunity within the squad for others to step up to the mark.

“Cathal (McShane) won’t be available due to injury while Frank (Burns) will be a massive loss as well but that is what we have a panel for," he said.

“It’s an opportunity for somebody else to stand up and be counted. Sean O’Donnell and Niall Devlin both came on against Galway for their senior championship debuts and they didn’t do themselves any harm and that is the way it is, if you are training hard you will get your opportunity.”
