Offaly starlet Egan back in action

Offaly and Tullamore star Cormac Egan

Rising Offaly star Cormac Egan returned to action last night after a long injury layoff.

The 19-year-old, who underwent hamstring surgery earlier this year, came off the bench as his club Tullamore hammered Edenderry parish side St Patrick's 3-12 to 0-5 in Gracefield to complete a three-in-a-row of Offaly U20FC titles.

The dual star suffered a grade three hamstring tear shortly after starring in Offaly's All-Ireland U20FC success last year and missed Tullamore's Offaly SFC triumph as a result. He returned to action at the start of this year and had featured in three Allianz League games for the Faithful seniors before another hamstring injury suffered in an U20 challenge against Cork ended his inter-county season.

Egan's return is a major boost for Tullamore ahead of their Offaly SFC semi-final against Edenderry on Sunday week.
