Replying To ForeverBlue2: "Our Ulster win was a fluke….
more getting to the final than the final itself where Donegal seemed to take us for granted… but our games leading up to it were all lucky wins and if you can't see that you must be clueless about football… If we are as good as you think how come we are in Division 4……?" No you are right lad. Winning Ulster from the preliminary round, playing each game week on week, playing 6 games in 6 weeks in total, beating 2 division 1 teams, mounting 2 incredible comebacks, beating Donegal with no fair play from the ref and 20 minutes with 14 v 15. Yes that was a real fluke. Must make Cavan the luckiest team in the history of sport to do that. Do you feel like a big man looking down your nose at what was a remarkable achievement by our team? You should be ashamed of yourself.

I hope for yer sake Meath live up to your high expectations. Its a long time since I thought of Meath as a top team and I will be disappointed if Cavan don't win on Saturday. That said the bookies have it as evens for both teams probably due to many of our Big Players not having a lot of game time under their belts yet - Mackey, Mckiernan etc.
You only deserve to be in Div 1 if you earn it. What you did 20 years ago is irrelevant. We deserved to be there last year and we deserved to get relegated too. Div 2 is the level for both teams until the prove otherwise.

It ridiculous to believe Cavan Gaels would be Cavan. We are a Div 1 team. Cavan Gaels cant even beat most clubs in Ulster. Get real and stop ridiculous conversations like that.

Replying To ForeverBlue2: "The bare facts are that Graham has led us all the way down to division 4…. Anyone with an ounce of football knowledge would know playing Div 3/4 football is no preparation for the rough and tumble of Ulster Championship football…. While we deserved to win the Final in 2020 v Donegal the manner in which we reached the final was a pure fluke and could never be repeated… We were beaten in 10 minutes in the previous Final and last year when we met one of the big boys in the first round (Tyrone) we folded…. For the last 20 years unless we are on the handy side of the draw we never get near an Ulster Final…. We can generally handle Monaghan ( usually beat themselves ) but a 1st round meeting with Tyrone/Donegal or even Derry would end in the usual defeat… We can usually get over Fermanagh or Antrim because normally we would be competing at a higher league level than both but for probably the first time in our history ( thanks to Graham ) we are the lowest ranked league team in Ulster… Let's hope this has no baring on our result in the match v Antrim…!!" For once and for all why dont you tell us all here how reaching the Ulster final from the preliminary round with no break week on week is a fluke? I never came across the likes of you before. Div 1 team Armagh have never been in an Ulster final under McGeeney for example but only in Cavan could we have people like you who are not depressed enough with the teams current form so you look to destroy the legacy of what the lads did in 2020. You are pathetic.

Cavan Minor And U20s 2022 - 4 Like(s)
Replying To ForeverBlue2: "Under age titles don't mean a whole lot if you are not producing good enough players for to compete at senior level…. We didn't get one decent scoring forward out of those 4 winning teams ( Garoid played but mostly midfield) and how could we with the type of football we played… Galway and Roscommon destroyed us with attacking football but we ran Dublin close by sitting the whole game in defence… It was woeful to watch….. Tyrone lost two of those finals but won multiple senior Ulster titles after… we got one…. All I'm saying is let the players express themselves at this age and don't be hung up on winning a title playing rubbish football ( not saying this team do that)…. When Kerry lost the minor final to Derry I think…Colm Cooper said he wasn't that disappointed as he said 3/4 players performing to a standard that could improve the senior team in a couple of years …. That's what it's all about at minor and now U20 level… winning a title is nice but the real bonus for progressive counties is if they can produce 3/4 players to move to the next level and therefore moving the senior team to the next level… Our senior team for the most part fell through the floor after winning Ulster (U21) 4 years in a row….. 1 Ulster title and the embarrassment of relegation to division 4 shortly afterwards was a poor reward for those 4 wins….but some seem very happy with that…" Sweet Jesus. Only a "cavan fan" (term used extremely loosely) could come up with this about our record breaking 4 in a row, our first titles at that grade in 15 years which did produce the players that brought Cavan from a team hanging at the bottom of Div3, to Div1 and eventually Ulster Champions. How perverse so you have to be to think like this.

Replying To Inaroundehouse: "Hopefully our present manager Mattie in his 2nd year will have greater success against Donegal than the previous manager had over his 5 years.
In saying that I hope Mattie has greater success against any county than the previous manager had .. ie Monaghan, Roscommon Tyrone come to mind .
Did the previous Manager ever manage to defeat any of these in an important competitive match
Maybe our stats man Fredflint could post our success rate? Seeing he so fond of the stats." I said Donegal had very strong home record. You said they had a poor one. I proved you wrong and now you are deflecting to cavan record. No one was talking about cavans record. You really are showing your self up as being exceptionally childish. A sensible person would just admit they got it wrong about Donegals home record.

Replying To cavanblueman: "What a fantastic win for the lads and off course the manager. To go to Cork, and in particular, the spectacular Park Ui Chaoimh and come away with a win is fantastic. Even more satisfying is to see the like of Fredflint and the previous managers bandwagon reeling in their feathers, they had Mattie written off after his first year.
We now have an identity, we have a game plan, and thankfully, its not just purely defensive. We defend well as a unit, but whats more impressive is the speed at which we break, and in some cases, the ease at which we can take our scores.
Three tough teams to play, but we will go into them with confidence. I'm not concerned about promotion and I think another year in Division 2 would do no harm, having said that, it would be nice to win a National League Division 2 title, and I've no doubt, if we got promotion to Division 1, we would be better equipped this time around. I think we will also give Donegal a good rattle in the Championship." Yes, I admit I was skeptical about Mattie and glad to be proven wrong. But that is the difference between you and I sir. I want whats best for Cavan. The attacks on the previous manager were a vendetta driven by the treatment of one player and nothing to do with what was best for Cavan. I have always said I wanted Mattie to succeed and I am delighted to see that he appears to be well on the way to do this. The last 2 wins in particular were excellent and fair play to him and the team

Replying To ForeverBlue2: "If it is a record it's not one any County team should be over proud of….. It's a sorry state that there is no County standard outfield player able to kick a 45 or other free from the ground…" Yet another idiotic post. The greatest team of all time used Cluxton to take their frees until a better free taker from distance (Rock) came along. You cant be pleased, even when our keeper gives an unbelievable performance you still find something to moan about. Good god would you ever have a read back at some of the stuff you are putting up here, its shocking.

Replying To pauk123: "JonSmith we all see Meath all the time. When we click we have a very good side. When we are firing on all cylinders it typically lasts for 20 minutes, if/when the tide starts to turn we have literally no one to steady the ship.
If we were to put together 40/50 minutes of performing at our best we'd beat Cavan and every other team in D2 out the gate.
I don't see Cavan all that much but you may well be able to say the same yourself. As for Meath we are consistently inconsistent, even during games. That's the most frustrating thing about this Meath team. You can point to evidence that we are a good side on the way up and also we are awful. You'd be right in both cases!" Really? Sure if Cavan "clicked" for 50 mins they would also beat everyone out the gate too. Truth is Meath are not as good as cavan and haven't been for a good few years. If that beating didn't show you that then you must have your eyes closed.

bizarre…. You could do with thinking things out a little before posting or getting somebody to proofread for you…..!!!" Sorry fat fingers and hit 2 instead of 1. The fact is mcKiernan is up there with the top scorers in Ireland or are these statistics wrong? No doubt if he was in the bottom 10 you would be all over it. Are you really a Cavan man at all, you are more like a Monaghan fan in disguise.

Then you can start another vendetta against the new guy with your buddies.

They are the best team in a county with very poor standard of club football.

Let's not get carried away with Laois there not that good Cavan should eat them up" Lets not get carried away with one win, We will eat up Laois (who are top of the table) yet we wouldn't beat Leitrim who currently sit bottom of Div 3. Well thats clear as mud.

Armagh have set their stall out saying their target is the last 8 can we hope that Cavan will make the last 8. Remember Cavan are division 1 team so their target has to be the last 8 considering Armagh's ambition??? Looking at the
McKenna Cup tonight I have to say these two teams will not be easy beat in any competition. Thankfully Cavan have only to play Tyrone in the League." I thought the McKenna cup was a waste of time?? Replying To theham: "No sign of the cork man and his negative posts after the win yesterday." There is a few on here have nothing to say when there is a good performance and fill up pages with negative stuff when we lose. You'd have to wonder about the mentality of such people. Yesterday was a very good performance and plenty to improve on. Killian was massive at midfield, moynagh was excellent, mcvitty pulled the strings, Niall Murray had a super game and Madden got two brilliant goals. At least we know we belong in Div 1 when we can give a drubbing to a decent team like Roscommon (Super 8 team from last yr). Brilliant to see Gerry Smith back on the field - really looking forward t o seeing him get up to speed.
Now lets take the bit of momentum up to Omagh next week and see what we can do.
