You're the pathetic ones living in the past.

Of course we're bitter about 2020. We lost to one of the worst teams of all time and would have had a handy all Ireland win that year. Oh well."
Monaghan boys are on here too. It's not a one way street and only a child would claim that

Ah Eddie - you might want to go back over some of the posts here on the Cavan forum from our nosy neighbours when we lost to Tyrone , Donegal and Kerry. You might get an understanding why some of our younger lads took great delight in getting back at these posters. Then suddenly they are the victims.

One of their veterans doesn't seem too welcome even on their own forum - posted here about keeping the car running after the Kerry game and Carlsberg doing Sundays after Donegal beat Cavan (think the mods deleted that one).

If they don't give it out they wouldn't have to take it when the inevitable happens.

We generally have good time for the Donegal crowd - don't get sucked into the poor 'victims' sob story. Some of these lads are obsessed with Cavan GAA even though neither of us have won fek all recently.

Like two bald men fighting over a comb.

I can categorically tell you that Graham was not let go nor would there have been any vote of confidence. He stepped down, the intention to take a break but was approached by Andy Moran to assist with Leitrim. He then offered and accepted the Leitrim job on the assumption that the same panel would commit for the year, but on hearing that a lot of the panel would not commit, he choose not to stay. Prior to taking the Leitrim job, he was also approached by Joyce which is why he ended up at Galway.
But you underestimate Graham and his abilities, so watch this space, the Louth job now up for grabs, he could also end up at Mayo assisting Andy Moran!

But whatever the case, he managed Cavan to their first Ulster Title since 1997 and that is fact and that is in the record books!

Explain please.

Otherwise you're just throwing out insults with nothing to back it up. Which would be very unlike you.

Since 03 July 2020:

Cavan have played in Croke Park against:

Dublin
Tipperary
Fermanagh
Sligo
Westmeath

Monaghan have played in Croke Park against:

Dublin
Armagh
Dublin

For what it's worth, Cavan have 3 wins. Monaghan have 2.

For what it's worth, the only decent team Cavan played in croker was Dublin.

I mean just compare the teams why don't you.

3 wins (against tailtean teams) vs 2 (against div 1 teams)

Delighted you posted that!

Now look at Monaghan's championship run this summer.

Galligan's stepped down rather than going for the third year. Probably the right move overall.

Fair play to him for taking on the job and backing himself. And thanks to him for making the personal sacrifices to do it. Great servant as a player, but ultimately the heat of championship battle exposed him for what he was, a rookie manger. Sure we played strong teams this year, but bar the Mayo game this looked like a team without a plan, pace or passion. Humilation against Donegal and Tyrone, handily beaten by a Kerry side in second gear. Getting cleaned out on kickouts and no tactical answer coming from the sideline.

The Donegal game is telling. We're matching them well first half, then Jim McGuinness uses his bit of wiliness and starts a row and gets his team and supporters fired up before half-time. We implode second half for the worst championship defeat in our history. Nothing from the sideline to stop it, in fact may even have exacerbated it.

There will surely be some retirements from the panel before 2026 and a transition period, so maybe makes sense to have a new manager for that. Who that is, hard to know. Doubt we're too attractive a proposition, same as when Galligan got the job, and that hasn't changed under his tenure. We're firmly in the second tier of Ulster teams below Donegal, Tyrone, Derry and Armagh. The gap to them seems to be growing. Not doing great at underage or schools, though there are some decent prospects and in Paddy Lynch we've a proper top-class scoring forward to build the team around.

Yes, as I said, he was asked by the county board to stay on.

"He was told there would be a vote of no confidence by the clubs"

No, he was told SOME clubs were opposed to him staying on. He said that if some clubs weren't happy, he'd step down.

Anyway, he's the most successful manager we've had this century and your dislike of him seems to stem from something non football related. Your posts over the years have repeatedly shown this."
Remember it is Walter Mitty you are dealing with there.

You actually in the third tier of Ulster Football behind everyone except Antrim. As for poor auld Raymond, he couldnt make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Looking at your team from the Kerry game the onky lad who would make it onto the Monaghan team is that young midfielder from Ballyhaise. Saw him with your Under 20s' earlier in the year, definitely a talented lad.

We're not behind Monaghan. Proven over and over and over in recent years.

Ray 'couldn't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear'. . . but he could beat Monaghan by 6 points!

So place yourselves wherever ye want, and put us above that.

I suppose Div. 1 of the National League is where we are, after giving ye a trimming on our way to the Div 2 title. 10 out of 11 years in Div 1, playing with the big boys. All Ireland quarter finalists 8 times and semi finalists 2 times in the past 12 years is slightly ahead of your achievements in the same period. Having said that ye did dig yourselves out of Div. 4 which was admirable. You did of course win All Irelands back in the days that few alive remember. With the stars ye have, I will put your lowly position down to the awful managers that have commandeered your teams.

Tom, Monaghan haven't even won Ulster in a decade. Is this what you aspire for in football, to be better than Cavan? Monaghan's all Ireland remains to win a div 1 league game in January. I'll take our 2020 Ulster title, thanks very much. Postscript, you seem to think that Ulster was tainted. Have a look again at the win against your mob or the final vs Donegal. I can tell you, they were hard won games. By using slurs like 'Covid title', you insult the effort put in by your own team, which trained like hell to play in difficult circumstances. Covid title my @££. We've had major ups and downs but we're not a decade removed from our last major title. That's a fact.
