Replying To Loughduff Lad:  "Be tight going on Sunday. It's a small club pitch really in Ardee (fyi get your tickets early, it will sell out - kids need tickets too) so will be a tight field, and they generally go well there. Saying that, i think we're in a good place. We might be down some players, but a win after not playing very well in a lot of areas in Cork, eans we get that good feeling after a win while also knowing we can improve and get better. I take Cavan to sneak it, maybe pull away by 2 to 3 points by the end but this will be a battle. Best of luck lads"
The capacity at Louth games is 2,600 and this is set by the GAA

Is a 2600 capacity ground the best Louth GAA can come up with…? That's ridiculous… No county games should be allowed take place in a venue that can't hold at least 5000… especially Division 1 and 2…?

I'd agree.

Why are Kildare playing in Carlow if Louth are able to play in an average club ground?

Team is named. Few changes from last week. Brian O'Connell starts again, straight in at 7 this time which is deserved. Ryan Donohoe drops out with James Smith going to 9. Ryan O'Neill also drops out for Oisin Brady. McVeety not named, with Cian Madden in his place, deservedly starting after his 2nd half last week. Like the look of the team, seems Galligan will switch things up if you come on and play well. That's good for the team. Although maybe you could argue Rehill unlucky in that, and some others lucky to start again. Hopefully good enough to come home with the win

Got the win. But mad stuff. Hard to know what to make of it. Poor enough 1st half to concede 2 goals, but kept on touch, then ahead by 6 and cruising at one stage mid 2nd half before being pegged back. 2 men sent off in silly incidents. 5 goals overall after none previous 3 games. Wins a win though. Up to 6 points now, and still looking up instead of down. Mad game

A good win where many have struggled to go and get one.

But would agree we let Louth back into it a bit too easily.

6 points should definitely mean we're looking up from now on.

That was a mad game, to say the least. I thought Louth brought a level of physicality that made for a battle. We matched them, though. Things boiled over at certain points and the ref had a busy day. Paddy Lynch was good, as were many others. A word on Killian Brady. He's a warrior. Every game he's called upon he gives everything. Sam Mulroy was kept quiet and Louth struggled without him. Shane Walsh (Meath), Rian o Neill, Murnan, whoever, he'll give them a torrid time. Win next week and Armagh will be a titanic battle.

id imagine Cavan will go into Meath game very strong favourites in the bookies eyes. As a Meath fan im delighted to be going down to Breffni with nothing to lose now were on 5 points, cant see a meath win though its 1965 since meath beat cavan in breffni park so hard to see that stat changing but hopefully we go in and have a cut and see where it brings its a shot to nothing for Meath really. Would most Cavan fans be fairly confident of a win?

In my opinion, Colm o Rourke is the worst meath manager in 30 years he somehow avoided bringing meath to division 3 on the last league game last season with results on the day saving them and this year has had 3 out of the first 4 league games at home in navan to three of the weaker teams in the division and were very lucky on two of these games to come away with any points if these games had been away there is a fair chance that meath would have lost all three matches. Cavan will beat them by at least 6 or 7 points and dont see them getting any points against Donegal or cork so they will just about avoid relegation again

I wouldn't say strong favourites. Lukewarm maybe. We've done well to win 3 out of 4 games, but those 3 were away. For some reason recently, we play better away. Need to change that though, and we need our fans out behind us. Cavan fans are fickle recently, so maybe with a nice run going and Meath coming to town, they'll be out for it. Be good to get back to an open and good surface too though. Ardee a nice venue yesterday, but very tight and heavy field. We'd be hopeful, but still missing a few players too

Wouldn't think too much about your record here. Most times in the past when we played in meaningful games it was in neutral venues, Croker etc. this will be a battle anyway with yourselves coming into form too at just the right time

I'd say Saturday will be a tight game again… We haven't played well in our last 2 games and still won which is a good sign… A combination of Corks woeful finishing and Louths indiscipline coupled with Paddy Lynches almost flawless free taking got us over the line in the past 2 games… Maybe now we have broken our goal drought we might get a few more going forward just so long as we don't concede silly ones at the other end… I have a feeling we will get more place to express ourselves v Meath in the wider spaces of Breffni and I don't think Meath will be nearly as cynical in the tackle as Louth….

Louth caused a lot of bother running direct at Cavan and should have had a 3rd goal in the first half. It was a tough game but good win for the younger players like Kiernan, Madden, Carolan.
O Connell was very good at half back. Not sure wft he wasn't involved the past few years

They seem to be a side who are able to run through teams like that. They fairly moved things for their 3rd goal. Seems they created many chances v Meath but didn't take them. We should learn alright but likely won't get cut open like that so often again

Good game of football in Ardee. It was interesting to see how the pitch affected the game, it was a better spectacle with less holding of the ball and much more physicality. Very enjoyable to watch although I was tearing my hair out at times.

I thought we were more aggressive in the second half. In general I didn't think it was a dirty game, just physical and at times niggly but that was inevitable. Once the referee started dishing out the cards, he couldn't stop. I thought all 3 reds were harsh. The Louth one was a push to the face on Cian Reilly. J Smiths was similar but Oisin's was push to chest after the keeper had blocked him from leaving the pitch. Ref just needed to get on with it. Never a second yellow.

We will get plenty more of that kind of niggle in Armagh and maybe even this weekend against Meath. In general I thought our discipline was very good. We gave away a handful of fouls all day. While the quality wasn't always there, the guts our lads showed in the second half made us proud to be from Cavan Sunday afternoon.

The Louth player got a deserved red as he struck O Rourke as well… He was always going to even up the numbers hence Smith getting a harsh 2nd yellow.. I didn't see what Brady did to merit his 2nd yellow.. Their no 9 ( who caused us endless problems at times ) stamped on a Cavan defender in front of the 2 umpires and the No.2 did nothing but hit lads off the ball for the whole match and got away with it… I agree Cavan met fire with fire in the 2nd half and that's how the got into their lead which was just enough in the end to get over the line…. Faulkner and Ciaran Brady took a lot of abuse off the ball but the 2 linesmen took no action at all…

Just before he got the yellow James Smith was being pushed, pulled and dragged by the Louth player in the middle, Smith had his two arms out wide looking at the linesman, this went on for about 20 seconds with nothing done before Smith shoved him in the face, it was a yellow card offence but serious provocation with nothing being done about it. It was the same in the first half right in front of us where Faulkner was tripped 2/3 times in succession right in front of the linesman who totally ignored it. The crowd and Raymond were incensed by it. Also thought Faulkner was fouled when he went to pick up the ball in the lead up to their penalty. He was about 40 yards out facing his own goal and it led directly to the penalty then being given a few seconds later.

I'm blue in the face with frustration when it comes to the absolute disastrous quality of officials taking charge of County games at the present time…. Time for the GAA to wake up … maybe something will be done now under Jarlath Burns

It's down to the allocation of referees.

I'm not saying there needs to be a closed shop, but Division 1 and 2 games on a given weekend are the 8 most important football matches in the country that weekend.

Gough, Deegan, Lane, Hurson, Coldrick, Cassidy (when not reffing Cavan), Mooney, and the guy from Tipp who's name escapes me. I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple more.

None are perfect, but they're the most experienced referees we have, and are much less likely to allow games to descend into the farce we saw on Sunday.

Fans deserve better.
