Replying To bunnoe1: "Mostly agree with theweanling bar in relation to Mc Kiernan. Thought he was poor throughout, he did get 3 pts but Armagh also got 3 pts directly from kickouts that he should have won or at least contested. His lack of fight for those balls was alarming and more generally the lack of tracking runners from midfield will certainly cost us dear against better opposition. His scores invariably were him turning up on the end of moves, where other lads had done the donkey work, like mc manus for Monaghan. The difference is Mc Kiernan is supposed to be a midfielder, Mc Manus isn't, rather a poacher. I really think a workhorse like gunner would serve us much better in mf for the final, time will tell. Overall a good performance, hard to know how strong the opposition, but thrilled to see Murray nail those free kicks, especially the tricky one when Armagh got it back to a point, that showed real character." Gearoid has been unwell for a few weeks, some sort of virus. He barely made the Monaghan game. I still don't think he's 100% over it. Hopefully will be on full throttle for the final. Super win today, well done to Mickey and the boys.

Congratulations to the lads and management on reaching Ulster final. Really played some great football today. Moved the ball extremely well and were so clinical in front of the posts. Bang on with frees too. Rode our luck a few times but we are due a bit. Fantastic open game of football to boot so Armagh deserve great credit but doubt they'll want to hear it ATM. But regardless, whatever happened before hand there was nothing between the teams in the last stretch so really pleased we upped a gear and won a tight game when it was on the line for both. Great performances again throughout the team but McVeety was simply inspirational again today. Onto Donegal now and it's a sobering thought. As good and all as we were today there's a lot of improvement to be made. Same lads that lead the last day lead again today. It's great to see some leaders step up finally this season but we need to get more out of some of our other players most especially the forwards. We're not always going to keep the wide count so low and convert all our frees so we will need more the next day. Some lads only interested in handy ball dragging defenders with them into the way of the runners. Need to start showing some fight and hunger to win their own dirty ball and be a bit more honest with their running. I'd be very worried with our midfield at times too. For spells during that game when we really needed to press on our advantage we simply couldn't get our hands on the ball around the middle. Jason McGee and Murphy will be a big step up but hopefully we make the step or Mickey comes up with a counter. But that's a problem for another day. Really proud of them today and even after the final whistle there was no over the top celebrating with them. They look focused with the bit between the teeth. They're not back in Clones in 2 weeks time to make up the numbers.

Replying To cavanlawd123: "He made up for it with his frees , but inagree with you he makes a few bad decision every game , but his saves and frees today were excellent." Very true, I posted that at a time when we were cruising but his kickouts were going straight to Armagh which was letting them back into it. No doubt about it, he made some great saves today and his frees were sublime.
But I'm still not convinced by our kickout strategy. It needs a major readjustment.

Very good win. Some great moves, and scores. Mcveety turning into a top Inside forward. Moynagh done well sweeping and some nice passes. Armagh could have had a few goals so Cavan can't afford to give Donegal those chances.

One of the easier Monday morning's of the year. Well done to all involved and hopefully the boys will put in another huge performance on the 23rd and bring the Cup back home.

Great performance. All we ever want was a Manager who knew what he was doing and players will respond. And they have. Well done to all concerned.

Great stuff all round :-)
Nobody is realistically expecting to win all irelands, all we ask is to be getting to the odd ulster final and players busting a gut for the shirt and knowing their role on the pitch and they are delivering on those fronts
23 points is serious scoring, always 3 or 4 bodies supporting in attack ,moving the ball quickly. Quality score taking under pressure. Leaders standing up all over the pitch. Its clear now killian clarkes best position is no 6, our best performances come with him in that position.
Mickey Graham deserves massive credit, players all seem to know their roles and the football is clever and positive, always leaves a few players in attack. Unrecognisable from the garbage served up under mcgleenan
Donegal look a formidable outfit, genuine all ireland contenders, but will worry about them some other day. Great to be going into an ulster final as massive underdogs

Likewise with McVitty playing in the inside forward line.

Delighted with the performance, real spirit and desire. We now need to get to the level of opting for goal chances. Monaghan's goal came from a Hughes run directly at the keeper and then a punch pass to the overlap support for the tap in. Niall Murray was in exactly the same position with the same overlap support and took the point rather than looking for the goal. I think this is a confidence and maturity issue and an indication of the next level we want to play at. I think we will get there, but maybe not in time for this year. Who cares, as long as we are moving forward like we are and improving with every game. Developing at this pace, I have no doubt that we will get here over the coming years.

The Sunday game also highlighted Madden's point against Monaghan (from Martin's pin-point pass) and showed that a delayed fist pass across the square would've put Conor Brady in for a goal (although he was being closely tracked).
Armagh showed yesterday that if you go for goals, you have to be clinical and take those chances!
