Not sure what Graham will gain if anything from these matches. I was at the Bridge Lavey game at the weekend. No Caoimhin playing. No Gerry Smith playing. Conroy off with what looked like a strain after 20 minutes. BreffniGuide (Cavan) - Posts: 474 - 16/04/2019 10:19:07 2179067 Link 0 |
Contribution of Enda Flanagan might have been noticed. Is it 8 goals he has scored in the 3 league games?

Just read Graham's remarks about county players being singled out in club games. Cavan_Shambles (Cavan) - Posts: 575 - 16/04/2019 11:11:29 2179082 Link 0 |

What's his actual position? Has he not being a back?

It's high time it was highlighted alright. And it's not just players who get up to those antics - the bile spouted from "supporters" at county players at club games needs to be addressed too.

Absolutely. If a player is talented he should not be singled out for rougher treatment from fellow players by virtue of the fact that he's better than they are. The jealousy is rife and it's been that way for years.

It's not just the abuse of county players. There is a lot of bile directed at all players and officials from the stand and on the pitch too. I've also noticed the amount of abuse to refs from managers and coaches seems to be increasing.

I agree with Mickey Graham's words, I witnessed on a good few occasions last year in league and championship where county players were targeted for special treatment, Gearoid McKiernan especially. However on a lot of occasions it's a two way thing, there's certain county 'stars' with huge ego's getting away with murder on the pitch, maybe receive a yellow card, receive numerous warnings, but will extremely rarely be sent off, referees it seems are afraid to dismiss them. Bar Conor Dourneen who takes some pride in the job and is extremely good at it, I can't think of too many good referees at present in Cavan football. What we're witnessing week in week out is mass brawls with zero football because of the lack of control of referees. I'm not going to name and shame but there's a few who come to mind that are a danger to have refereeing beyond underage. an_cearrbhach (Cavan) - Posts: 28 - 16/04/2019 17:54:34 2179168 Link 0 |
So there are 3 league rounds played, tell me what county players are injured because they were 'targeted' and who were the opponents? Grahams rant is purely to curtail county players playing for their clubs. Overlord (USA) - Posts: 46 - 16/04/2019 19:22:20 2179178 Link 1 |

I believe Graham was in contact earlier in the year but Flanagan was carrying an injury at the time. I'd imagine he'll be called in.

Not a good look for Mickey to start blaming clubs for injuries this early in his tenure. The Cavan panel started training as soon as last years senior championship ended and have been training since. Maybe fatigue from all that is the reason so many county players are out injured? And not 3 rounds of Club league. Overlord (USA) - Posts: 46 - 17/04/2019 10:26:39 2179250 Link 0 |
He played all his underage football as a FF or an attacking half forward, but he can play anywhere

Such rubbish, players may get extra attention but it's almost never in an overly aggressive manner. To me this looks like a diversion tactic from Mickey, our county team is very poor but it's all the club players fault for being too rough with them in the club games, such nonsense. Our county team is poor because they are poor, end of story. Before you ask, yes I have seen and been part of 100s of club games over the years.

So you're accusing Mickey of making this up are you?

So you believe he's making it up do you?

It looks that way. Unless of course you can tell us what county players have been 'targated' and injured while playing for their clubs in the 3 acfl rounds so far this year? Overlord (USA) - Posts: 46 - 17/04/2019 23:25:50 2179391 Link 0 |
Poor county players with years of strength and conditioning work , tough inter-county games, tougher inter-county opponents getting bullied by club players. StirringIt (Cavan) - Posts: 374 - 18/04/2019 06:58:19 2179397 Link 0 |
