I think n Murray got a yellow card too that's probably why he was taken off.

Replying To stillalottoplayfor:  "The most disappointing aspect from Sunday for me was the Cavan support or should I say lack of ! Dreadful, the worst I've ever seen. Everyone on about this player and that player and tactics etc, but our support used to be far better than this. I hear lads going on about players not wanting to play for Cavan, the apathy amongst the supporters is worse, I know, I was at 7 of the 8 league games if you include the final. Anyone agree, no ?"
I would agree but people all over the country are fed up at what they are seeing at county level... look at the Mayo v Galway game last Sunday... I taped it and looked at it last night and it was truly dreadful...and there will be a load more of these negative rubbish games in the comming weeks and months... who in their right minds are going to pay in to be bored to death... everybody likes to see their County play but there is only so much any person will put up with and its hard to blame them....

I'd much rather see Cavan as hard to beat than the rubbish we've being served. Supposedly progressive football while conceding 6 36 in two games.

We had no leader on the biggest day of the year , i think mcveety is a leader and his best place is at number 6 , holla is not a leader or center back , id love to see a half back line of holla mcveety and gerry smith .

Dunno, Holla showed serious leadership qualities in Ennis, Cork and the rest, obvious to anyone that was there.......

Cavan just haven't progressed in the last 5 years. All the young talent seems to have disappeared and this is where the postmortem should be and there must be something wrong elsewhere as there is a serious amount of player turn over.

McVeety needs to play inside forward for us. Not because it's his best position, but because he's the only good one we have.

Givney would be on that team (if he moves home).

Agree with the rest.

Can I ask you a question?
All over Ireland you have ex athletic , basketball, rugby ,soccer, coaches involved with Gaa teams both club and county. What exactly do they know about the skills of Gaelic Games?
No wonder the standard has slipped nationally.
It's natural skilful footballers we are looking for. Not greyhounds with nothing between the ears.
That's why it's hard to watch!

Dara is far too good of a scorer for us to be holding the middle, falkner should be our 6

Make that 7 years.
I believe we must have went through 100 players in those 7 years.
And we are still struggling to find a spine.
I listened to this well known person talk absolute dribble in a pub in ballybofey before the match last Sunday's. Absolute dribble .

And the sad thing about it is when they do get rid of Mattie they will bring some other clown back.

I looked at Monaghan team that won Ulster in 2013 and team that beat Dublin in Croker recently.

9 players from Ulster Final were involved in Game , obviously Monaghan success has encouraged guys to stick around but for us to only have 3 is very low by comparison.

Donegal 2013 Ulster Final

MONAGHAN: Rory Beggan (Scotstown); Kieran Duffy (Latton), Drew Wylie (Ballybay), Colin Walshe (Doohamlet); Vincent Corey (Clontibret), Neil McAdam (Monaghan Harps), Dessie Mone (Clontibret); Owen Lennon (Latton), Darren Hughes (Scotstown); Paul Finlay (Ballybay), Stephen Gollogly (Carrickmacross), Dermot Malone (Castleblayney Faughs); Christopher McGuinness (Ballybay), Kieran Hughes (Scotstown), Conor McManus (Clontibret).

Monaghan V's Dublin

Monaghan: R Beggan; D Mone (0-01), C Boyle, V Corey (1-01); R Wylie, D Wylie, K O'Connell (0-01); D Hughes, N Kearns; P McKenna, O Duffy, R McAnespie (0-01); C McCarthy (0-03, 2fs), K Hughes (0-01), C McManus (0-02, 1f).
Subs used: J McCarron (1-01) for McCarthy (55); C Walshe for Mone (55); N McAdam for Kearns (59); F Kelly (0-01) for McKenna; T Kerr for K Hughes (70).

Beggan , Mone , D wylie . Corey , Mc Manus , D hughes , K hughes ,

C Walshe and Neil Mc adam from bench … 9 players

here is a question. When is the last time that Cavan won 4 games in-a-row in the championship.

I don't think we did it in 1997. I seem to remember us beating: Fermanagh,Donegal and Derry before losing to Kerry in the Semi-final.

In 2013 we beat : Fermanagh,Derry and London before again losing to Kerry.

Does anyone know how many games we played in Ulster in 1967 or 1969 (I believe we won ulster in those years).
If we played a preliminary round then we would have won 4.

If we are to make the Super 8s then that is what we have to do.

for Roscommon to reach the Super8s all they have to do is beat Leitrim and then one other team.

Interesting points you make eamonmac....below is actually the monaghan team that beat Donergal to win Ulster in 2013. Compared to team that beat Dublin recently in League there are 9 players in common...all starting in both games so your main point is well made I suppose !

MONAGHAN: Rory Beggan; Kieran Duffy, Drew Wylie, Colin Walshe; Vincent Corey, Neil McAdam, Dessie Mone; Owen Lennon, Darren Hughes; Paul Finlay, Stephen Gollogly, Dermot Malone; Padraig Donaghy, Kieran Hughes, Conor McManus.

Subs: Gavin Doogan for Gollogly (inj) (9), Dick Clerkin for Doogan (52), Christopher McGuinness for Malone (66), Tommy Freeman for McManus (69).

Hard luck to the team on Sunday. Always felt Donegal were a bridge too far for us before the game and it was a year or two too early for some of our lads to make waves in the championship. But our manager's naivety worries me a bit and I'm not sure if he's the right man at all for this bunch of players. He only seems to know one way. But he's got us to Division 1 so has probably earned the right to see next year through. Players would need to be ok with that though. Hopefully we can put some sort of performances together in the back door to give players and fans alike a bit of hope for next year.
Talk of 100 players or so falling through the net is nonsensical too. Our bench is a bit light but our first 15 is not that far away from full strength. We need to work with the players that are available to us, the younger lads coming through and those willing to put in the hard yards that's required for IC behind the scenes. Calls for changing personnel after every defeat is the last thing we need. A lot of the players being mentioned struggled to get us out of Division 3. The team has progressed. Some of those players didn't.

Of the winning u21 team of 2011 you will find only McKiernan and Murray are still involved where as Tyrone who we beat have at least 8/9 still involved.

Of the 2012 team we have Clarke and Moynagh still involved.
That's 4 players from 2 winning u21 teams involved at the moment .
That's a very poor return for players who should be at their peak now.
Not 1 forward still playing Senior football from 2 winning u21 teams.
