With the death of Patrick 'Pobo' Duffy on Saturday April 19 2008, the Shercock area said farewell to one of its most popular and respected citizens. The shopkeeper was part and parcel of life in the town and he played football for the local club for many years. He was a selector when Shercock won their first-ever county JFC in 1979. Past and present members of Shercock GFC flanked the coffin at Pobo's removal.
