There was great sadness last February in the Bailieboro area at the passing of Genie at a relatively young age.

Genie had a distuinguished career with the Shamrocks' senior team in the seventies and eighties and was a key player in the club's SFC final appearance in 1983.

A large contingent of his playing colleagues and club officials attended his funeral and formed a Guard of Honour.

A minute's silence was observed at the senior match against Killygarry.
