McCabe, Monsignor Vincent


Monsignor Vincent McCabe attended St Patrick's College in his youth and was a part of the college team which captured the MacRory Cup in 1939. He was also one of the last surviving members of the Tully team which won the Leitrim senior football championship in 1945. By 1956, Vincent had moved to Los Angeles permanently to serve in the parishes of Santa Maria, Santa Barbara and Santa Catalina, with his work including the construction of two new churches and two new schools. He had been ordained in Maynooth on June 26, 1946 for the Diocese of Kilmore. Vincent was predeceased by his brothers Fr James, Fr Gerald, Foncy, sisters Sr St Edmund, Margaret, Elizabeth and Kathleen, and survived by his nephews, nieces and cousins in Tully.
