Drumgoon GAA formed a Guard of Honour for the late Jim Cochrane following his death in September. Athletics had been his main passion growing up, but he found time to represent Drumgoon on the playing field during the 1960s, mainly as a half-forward and was known for his speed and accuracy. Jim also played for Cootehill on a handful of occasions before deciding to concentrate solely on athletics. He died in Cavan General Hospital at the age of 81, following a short illness and his funeral mass took place at St Michael's Church in Cootehill.
