There was deep shock felt in both the Ballinagh and Belturbet communities in May after the tragic death of Pauric McGahern at 29 years of age. A father and husband, he will be fondly remembered as a talented footballer in his youth who gave excellent service to Ballinagh GFC at underage level, as well as the Ballinagh schoolboys team. His mother Marie served on the club's committee for years, while his father PJ along with his daughters were also a focal part of camogie in the area. Pauric moved to the Belturbet area after marrying his wife Leanne, a native of the town. Countless glowing tributes were paid to Pauric after his death and his funeral mass at St Patrick's Church, Drumalee saw a huge attendance present.
