The communities of both Belturbet and Milltown were grief-stricken in April following the death of 16-year-old Sinead Lennon. Sinead died at St Vincent's University Hospital in Dublin while awaiting a liver transplant. She is dearly missed by her parents Peadar and Mary along with her friends from St Bricin's College and the Belturbet GAA club. Guards of Honour were formed by the latter two at her funeral mass in St Mary's Church Staghall.
