Packie was a loyal servant to Butlersbridge GAA and his work and dedication was greatly appreciated by the club. At the time of his passing in August, he was serving as club President and was well known as a devoted supporter who always helped out in whatever way he could. The club held a Guard of Honour at his removal and he was laid to rest in the local graveyard.
