Three-in-a-row chasing Éire Óg eased through through to the knock-out stage of the Clare senior football championship this afternoon by handing St Joseph’s Milltown a 1-13 to 0-8 defeat.
The holders had run up a 0-8 to 0-3 lead in Cooraclare by the time Gavin Cooney smashed in their goal in the 23rd minute and the margin between the sides would stand at eight come half-time.
The Ennis outfit had six different scorers during the first-half and saw out the victory comfortably to maintain the 100% start to their title defence.
Yesterday (Saturday) saw 2020 winners Kilmurry-Ibrickane also reaching the last eight by seeing off Corofin on a 3-11 to 0-7 scoreline in Lissycasey.
