1997 Team In Management

(Oldest Posts First)

Great to see so many Cavan Greats in management from that Golden era team.
Dermot McCabe
Peter Reilly
Larry Reilly
Fintan Cahill
Dermot McCabe
Mickey Graham

Interesting too to see very differing levels of success. Dermot McCabe with 2 senior championships with Gowna. Mickey with an ulster with Cavan.

Larry Reilly sounded like an absolute car crash with the county u20's this year. Cucus didn't make it out of the group in intermediate last year under Fintan Cahill.

Has the game moved on from these lads without them realising? Does great player not always make great manager? Will we see more from this brilliant team in management in the future?

Cahill had success with Cuchulainns in the past, I believe they got to a division 1 final in or around 2008 or so? Who is Peter Reilly managing these days?

Yeah,

Heard the u 20s was a complete disaster, no prep on oppositions, no match ups, no game analysis. Crazy stuff.

Tomsmith here

I see the lineup from 1997 , and surprizing it dident contain more Senior Gaels p;layers. I mean player who played at a very high level within Cavan.
Then again most of these fellows won all that was to be won in Cavan and I suppose they feel satisfied.
Its not east for fellows who played with the big Town team ( Cavan Gaels ) to try and motivate small Country fellows from small rural Clubs ..
It would not be easy to get results as the big stage would be daunting for many
