Should Referees Be Held Accountable Or Praised For Their Actions On The Gaa Field

Replying To breffnibluewhite:  "Having watched the refs performance on sunday in breffni and in the armagh mayo game i feel a public flogging of the ref in the town square after each match is the way to go and to get the support of the refs organisation charge a fiver per flogging and the ref gets to keep half the money. There would be some very rich refs about."
Breffi Blie and White of 287 posts sorry 278 Posts.
I remember when I only had that same number of Posts and I did Post some horrendous stuff( With the aid of the great Mrs T ) bur I soon learned that you put a lot of thought in before you hit. the Post button.
Now I feel having seen the Breffni display and the Armagh game on the Television that if as I suggested the Referee came in to the loosers dressing room and explained why he did what he did in the game.
He could always stand near the Door

Why are people engaging with this lad. It's the same tired trolling over and over again. I happen to know that he's a Monaghan lad who's either very bored in life or very obsessed with Cavan. Like clockwork he'll appear with 'junior poster', Mrs T,,,,. He needs a new hobby.

I just wonder why Hogan Stand allow this ( Font of Wisdom Hu Hu ) lad of 44 posts deride a senior poster like Tomsmith.
Font of wisdom over the years I have consistently posted factual posts in which I analyse all matters Gaa in Cavan.
I am a Cavan Gaels supports, which is Cavan best team over 20 years and I feel we have won more Cavan Championships than by being a good footballing team.
Indeed but for a few Referee decisions we could have won more senior football Championships.
But here to 2024 .. Up the Gaels and ------ the rest

Nothing personal Tom, although I know of you, from going to the odd game up in Monaghan, I don't know you personally. I do feel though that its a bit mean that a Monaghan lad spends his time attempting to ridicule his neighbouring county. This forum needs serious discussion, not tropes about Cavan people. Ps. I think your own club in Monaghan play a nice brand of football.

Fontofwisdom, and he that knows nothing of 4700 posts , sorry of 47 posts under this handle.
Perhaps you could use your engery in discovering some footballers for Cavan ( Similiar like how I discovered Davin Givney). I mean ones that have not yet been tried out. In conversation at the upper Imperial corner it w as said that sociial media or the internet has given a world wide voice to fools . That is people who were simply idiots locally , but are now seen world wide.
But dont be disheartened by my comments before you press the send button get a good educated friend ( If you have one) to read over your posts / suggestions as I have known that my David Givney posts was read by the then team manager and he was successfully called into the Cavan fold

Ah come on, you've used those lines 100 times. Thanks for the tip though. I'll ask for your advice the next time I'm up in Monaghan for a game. You're welcome to become a fully fledged Cavan supporter. I'd advise, though, caution on that front. Your own county are after all in Division one. Ps. Get some of your educated friends to read your posts. It's David, not Davin!

Font of wisdon I remember when I was ajunior poster of like yourself on 1200 posts it was daunting task to answer a senior poster ( Tomsmith now is one of the most senior poster of good quality posts here) who respected.
But back to last week ends games and I watched Club and County games and some teams got the rub of the green and it sure made for an interesting result .

Absolutely they should. Lads train all year long for a chance to be successful only to have that taken away by referees so often. I've played and watched Cavan club football for the past couple of decades and the standard of refereeing in this county is appalling. And there's never any consequences for the referee, only the teams they've wronged.

Nonsense. Refs are accountable. There are referees adjudication panels, and refs are often taken off games or lose being selected for big games on the back of poor performances. Just because those ref panels do not release their findings, does not mean it does not happen. We can't be having hatchet jobs on refs in public as no-one would ever do it and then we've no games. But they are accountable. But also human, remember that. Players are allowed multiple mistakes per match, we castigate refs over one or two in what is a convoluted game for them to official

You're talking nonsense. How is a referee held accountable when he is the only official at the vast majority of games he referees throughout the season? Is he going to the panel when he makes several terrible decisions? I've seen so many referees who genuinely haven't a clue what they are at and they continue to get big games. To say there are consequences is wrong.

Hello I am a Dragon Tomsmith here from Cavan Town and staunch Cavan Gaels supporter.
I feel you are being unkind to our Referees when you state the above ie """ I seen many Referee sorry small r referees who genuinely havent a clue and continue to get big games ... This is a poor reflection on the Referees assessors who grade Refs.. Perhaps you could withdraw these remarks as I find them degrading

Look at poor Richard Donoghue from L, Derry who was the man in the middle in a Lisnaskea Emmets game againist Na Rossa in an Ulster Junior Quarter Final in Donegal on Sunday . It appears that he dished out six Reds, eight yellows and three blacks. Na Rossa receiving the bulk of them, going down to twelve players at one stage in the second-half but somehow staying in this game until the very end Na Rossa only got beat by a single point Lishaskea who beat Aghadrumsee by 20 points in the Fermanagh title final.
ough a tough day at the Office for the poor Ref
