Your source is correct, the transfer has not been approved (YET). See the Jordan Morris transfer has been granted, big coup for the Stars, but sure his father and grandfather before him also played in the blue so it's a homecoming of sorts for him. Stars immediately have the best forward in Cavan football now. brian (Meath) - Posts: 1973 - 14/02/2022 16:07:19 2400337 Link 0 |
It's great getting concrete information like that isn't it.

I dunno about that now Brian. You might be exaggerating a bit there.

The best forward in Cavan is Gearoid McKiernan, he must be some player if he is better than Gearoid.

Half of Mullahoran have addresses with via Longford on them, even if the parish is absolutely in Cavan. This doesn't always stick and you see this with parishes on county borders all around the country.

When you see a goalkeeper on top of our county scoring list it would seem we have no forwards worth talking about in Cavan….

Ah come on now. Let's not be silly here and look at this objectively. You're using 2 games, where our keeper takes frees, and where our main marksman was missing for one of the games. This will balance out over the year, and while Galligan will be up there from taking frees and 45s (which he should - he's our best option there), the likes of McKiernan and Lynch will pass him out as the year goes on. Look at it properly in time

I know after a few games McKiernan and Lynch will and should top our scoring chart.., but in all honesty there is something badly wrong when even after 2 games our Keeper is top scorer…. Remember we are in the depths of Division 4 here… if our forwards are struggling here I hate to think what they will produce when they meet proper defenders later on in the season….Time to start firing

Why though? He has taken our frees from a certain distance. Doesn't matter if he's a keeper or a full forward. If we have someone who can take and convert that % then you stick with it. Like I still cannot believe people are against this, if he scores, it works. Do you want us missing these instead? We absolutely use him. And it's not badly wrong if he's our top scorer due to those reasons I said. And our forwards are just fine. Ran up 2 big scores against Tyrone and Wexford. They seem to be using the league well to get the young forwards some time and confidence. I am concerned about likes of madden, but Lynch and Cormac O'Reilly are doing well. Not everyone can score loads every game, but we're doing just fine. Loughduff Lad (Cavan) - Posts: 2450 - 15/02/2022 14:28:08 2400502 Link 0 |
I think the Tyrone game is irrelevant. The Wexford game was good scoring, but they were very poor also.17 pts is good scoring, but just 5 pts scored in second half. Cavan need to be ruthless against these type of teams. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2824 - 15/02/2022 16:35:28 2400533 Link 0 |
My point is we are playing very weak opponents yet our leading scorer is a goalkeeper with 8 pointed frees…. It just doesn't inspire confidence but maybe some forwards will step up to the mark in the coming weeks….

Well exactly, it's 2 games and GMac was missing for one of those. And he takes our long range frees. This is not the bad thing you think it is. The fact that he has converted so many long range frees is a good thing. We missed many of these frees for year. How does it not inspire confidence?
