Goal Of The Year

(Oldest Posts First)

Goal of the year has to be OISIN PEIRSON'S goal against Monaghan, everytime l need cheering up l go to youtube and replay it. lt reminds me of Tony Tighe's goal in the'52 drawn all lreland final against Meath.

One of James Bradys goals for Ramor v Gowna ... caught high ball with back to goal, turned, a dummy solo which sent defender to Lidl and then a rocket into top corner from 20 yards out.... Unstoppable from the Ramor sharpshooter.

Kevin De Bruyne volley vs Newcastle for me.

Madden is the best natural forward in the county and the volley was very good, but would he have tried it if he really believed they might beat Xlough? In hindsight, it was a despairing effort in the knowledge that Gowna were already bet.

Great strikes are great strikes but the awards should go to those who hit them when the games are still in the melting pot.

Did he not score a goal when the game was in the melting pot? We were 1 point up with 4 mins to go.

Yes but it wasn't goal of the year.
Adrian Smiths in the final Phillip Gunnar scored a good goal in quarter final

Yes. And it was probably the most important Cavan goal since 1997.

You seem to have decided to interpret what I said as "Conor Madden doesn't score goals when the game is in the melting pot". I didn't.

This is a thread about the best goal of the year, and I think De Bruyne deserves the award ahead of Madden. As well as the timing, De Bruyne's strike was from much further out as well..

Since when does de bruyne play football in Cavan? This is a tread about the goal scored in Cavan or for Cavan, it's not about soccer goals in England.
