That's true actually, making Provincial final or promotions from Division 3

Replying To BreffniGuide:  "We won't be playing in the Tailteann Cup next year anyway because we won Ulster this year. Once we even made the Ulster final, my understanding is we had escaped the Tailteann Cup.

Tailteann Cup is for Division 3 and 4 teams who don't make a provincial final."
But is it not next year's Ulster final we have to make to avoid it? (Or promotion from div 3)

Don't think making this years final matters as new rules don't start till next year. Was there not talk of delaying it because of covid.

The new rules have it that 2020's provincial winners will be in the bowl for Sam, regardless of making the 2021 provincial decider.

Replying To FoolsGold:  "Underage Cavan would need to improve. Knocked out in first round of U20 and U17 this year.
There is still good players coming from those teams, but would help if they were winning.

Dublin U20 playing in the All Ireland final before the Seniors. They have plenty of top players coming through from that team"
Would it be too much to expect the management of our underage teams to select the best players available? We seem to constantly over rate our youngsters so much so that they believe all they need to do is turn up and they'll win.In the Celt's interview with the manager before the Monaghan game we were told that these were an exceptional bunch of lads who'd showed how good they were against Cork & Kerry in CHALLENGE matches, who had beaten Tyrone earlier in the year and of which 12 were members of the 2019 panel (were 2019 minors sacrificed to give these lads inter county experience?).We were told that Monaghan would have to produce a very good performance to beat our lads , but unfortunately as it turned out they didn't need to as once again we flattered to decieve.
Killygarry who seeked and got regraded to the Minor Division 2 championship had 5/6 players on the panel whilst the other 3 teams who competed in the Division 2 semi finals had a grand total of 2 between them on the panel, Killinkere who didn't make the Div 2 semis had 3 , and Ballyhaise who competed in the Minor Division 1 Championship final had none!! Something somewhere just doesn't add up.

Killygarry always seem to get players in on the county panel. Seniors have 5 yet they didn't win a game all year.

With the league split, I think promotion gets a little trickier.

Assuming it goes ahead as planned, we're looking at games against Derry, Fermanagh and Longford, with 2 for these 4 going into semi finals.

That semi final essentially becomes a promotion playoff, so is actually more important than the final.

Should we make it (and we have to be expecting that much at least), we will play Tipp, Limerick, Offaly or Wicklow.

Again, I'd fancy our chances against all 4, but Tipp or Limerick away (if it is home/away) is no walk in the park.

You are overstating alot of cannon fodder there I'm afraid. Limerick included.

We should be trampling across everyone there apart from Tipp if the lads heads are half screwed on at all on the match days, excluding Tipp.

Tipp would probably go down as a 50/50 for me as even though we would have a much stronger panel, we probably less natural firepower in the forward line than them if you look at it over a few years rather than just last year.

We also don't have a great record against Tipp but I would suspect Mickey has already begun planning for that game and I would back him to get us through it this time around to try and get us back to D2.

Well if the rest are cannon fodder then ourselves and tipp should top our groups, avoid each other in the semis and both be promoted by the time we meet in the final.

Yeah, should just be as simple as that.

Mickey will probably still plan for a Tipp slip up just in case anyway I would say. Or at least he should. We are not that good yet that we can take team that are not cannon fodder for granted.
