Strange there is no talk about the Leinster U16 final that Cavan lost the weekend. This is a team that the management had at their disposal around 11 of this years minors on the panel so one wonders what went wrong. I know Meath had one Minor. This is a game Cavan should have walked away with.??? The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 10/09/2018 23:38:53 2140908 Link 0 |
I was at it and Meath were the better team on the day. Not sure if it's the start of a resurgence in Meath football or our lads though they would roll over. Can't take away from the meath performance. Also it wasn't a Leinster final. It's a tournament run by Oldcastle club to honour the memory of a young lad that died in a car accident a number of years ago. There were teams from Leinster and Ulster in it. It's a good run out for young lads and more competitive than challenges. StirringIt (Cavan) - Posts: 374 - 11/09/2018 10:05:59 2140936 Link 0 |
Yes I know it's a tournament and it's run in Leinster. The cavan team had 12 if not more of the minor team available to them. It's a tournament that Cavan were favorites to win but unfortunately they did not prevail. So much for our development squads and all the talk about whats coming through it's disappointing to say the least. We won it 2014-2015-2016 we did not take part last year maybe better luck next year if they take part.

given that they won it 3 years in a row before last year id take that as a sign our development squads are working!!!the problem may lie in what happens after that. these things happen to teams, especially young teams, maybe they took Meath for granted, maybe Meath were the better team. I suggest we leave it at that, they'll be strong in ulster next year i'm sure. theweanling (Cavan) - Posts: 414 - 11/09/2018 11:50:20 2140973 Link 0 |
Jeez Sean will u give it a rest is there nothing in the cavan (young or old) set up that escapes your constant criticism? if you knew anything about that u16 team you would know they "reached" the final of a very competitive competition and were beaten by an excellent young meath team on a day where yes they didn't perform to their best but they are still just kids and learning. if you are suggesting that development squads aren't working then look no further than that same meath set up as during the last few years they have finally brought in this same system and are beginning to reap the benefits with their minors winning the leinster this year make. No mistake they will be a force again in the very near future. spiritof97 (Cavan) - Posts: 36 - 11/09/2018 12:39:10 2140995 Link 0 |

Sean only you could say the following fredflint (Cavan) - Posts: 1485 - 11/09/2018 13:47:43 2141014 Link 0 |
Yes only me for I can see the light. They did not take part last year WHY ? took part this year WHY? I ask for there are enough there to field two teams if not more year on year. I don't agree with developments squads as it's well documented but hey all the talk about they games they were winning then SILENCE when Meath beat's them. Come on fredflint you know well Dublin field a fourth grade team in it so don't get carried away. Regarding the three years on the trot that is correct why decide not to field a team last year and then a team this year. There were at least 12 minors available to them I hear only one maybe two were played. Why is that would you say???? Don't you think the man to have led these lads had to be John Brady as he knew most of them. Winning breeds success. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 11/09/2018 18:35:18 2141078 Link 0 |
He was too busy doing a job on our u17s.
