Time For Mattie To Move On?

McGuinness won't be managing any county team anytime soon. He is getting his full qualification to be a soccer coach / manager.
McEntee is more of a coach then manager.

Dessie Farrell would be a good appointment if they were to look outside Cavan, but proabaly not interested. Mickey Graham is probably the pick of the managers in the county, with finbar Reilly as coach.

Neither of the two mentioned would be on my list along with Jason but we have our own opinions as to whom we should be trying to bring in. What about Tony Scullion ???

Have you ever seen the man in action ?? He knows his stuff thats for sure I would put him close to Joe McCarthy but I don't think anyone could match Joe in the Country for his ability to read a player and the game. A huge loss is Joe to Cavan sadly.

Not that I'm advocating for him and his defensive style but I'm surprised not to see Peter Donnelly mentioned yet

Coaching different to managing though. More responsibility as manager. Martin McElkennon was a good coach under Eamon Coleman but struggled when he stood in as temporary manager.

When we bet Meath in Clones and lost to Mayo then. No it wasn't. Keogan got us nowhere close to that.

He never wanted the managers job they should have left him do what he was best at and left Cassidy take the job.

Someone said it to me over the weekend and I really think it makes sense .. I think cavan should try snap up poacher from carlow. The work he has done down there is something else .. he is a real innovator and knows the modern game extremely well .. he's quite defensive but if you hear him talk about carlow he identifies the different stages in a teams development.. he recognised they needed to sort the defence first and knows that they need to expand next year .. I think he would he would attract a lot of players back too .. this would be a very exciting appointment .. I'm sure he would like something closer to home too ..

Yeah, wasn't Keoghan my bad.

There would be no point in bringing Poacher to Cavan. He done good work with Carlow, but they had to try something. They were stuck in Division 4 for over 20 years leaking too much scores.
Cavan have been through that process under Donnelly.

The next Cavan manager needs to get both attack and defence clicking. McGleenan talked the talk but didn't back it up with good football.

I hear Eamon Dunne from Louth is being touted as a candidate. Low profile but good organiser.
