Cavan GAA confirm weekend's rescheduled SFC fixtures

August 29, 2026

Four Cavan SFC clashes are on the schedule between Saturday and Sunday

Cavan county board have confirmed the new venues for this weekend’s third-round senior football championship ties following a "major" fire at Kingspan Breffni.

The fire is believed to have started in the stadium’s kitchen area late on Thursday night, following Crosserlough’s win over Laragh United at the Cavan Town venue.

Gardaí and local fire services attended the scene shortly after midnight. The blaze was brought under control, with no injuries reported.

Cavan GAA confirmed yesterday afternoon that Kingspan Breffni is “out of commission” for the weekend, forcing them to switch last night’s clash between Ballyhaise and Ramor United from the county ground to Our Lady of Lourdes Park, Mullahoran, where the latter won by 2-21 to 3-17.

It has been confirmed that today’s third round encounter between Arva and Cavan Gaels will now be played in Ballymachugh, with league champions Cuchulainns and holders Kingscourt Stars meeting in Cootehill. Both games throw-in at 6pm.

Tomorrow (Sunday) sees Crowe Park, Lacken play host to the meeting of Castlerahan and Gowna (4.30pm) before Killygarry and Mullahoran cross swords at St Matthew’s Park, Crosskeys at 6pm.
