Cavan Gaels chalked up their first win in the 2024 Cavan senior football championship after 1-10 to 0-10 victory over Ballinagh at Kingspan Breffni on Saturday.
In the end, it was Luke Molloy’s goal after 12 minutes that separated the sides as the finish as the Gaels got their first win of the campaign following a surprise three-point defeat to Mullahoran last weekend.
Mullahoran looked to make it two wins from two yesterday evening when they met 2021 champions Ramor United who saw off Ballyhaise in their first game.
The Dreadnoughts had been on top for long stages in a low-scoring encounter in Cavan Town prior to a 49th minute goal sent Ramor 1-6 to 0-8 in front.
The Virginia men looked the more likely to claim a second win from there, but Cormac O’Reilly’s free would see it finish all square (1-6 to 0-9) as Ramor saw former county defender Damien Barkey red carded in injury-time.
