Killygarry came from seven points down to see off Cavan Gaels last night and record their second win in as many games in this year’s Cavan senior football championship.

It finished 1-15 to 0-14 at Kingspan Breffni, where Cian Keaney’s goal midway through the first-half proved pivotal for the Crubany men.

The Gaels had been dominant in the first-half, running up a 0-6 to 0-2 lead after the opening 11 minutes and points from Paul O’Connor, Jack Tully and Padraig Sexton (2) would send them towards an 0-11 to 0-5 advantage come half-time.

Emmanual Shehu increased the 14-time champions’ lead to seven within three minutes of the restart before Killygarry got motoring with two points from Keaney and the half-time substitute would smash in their goal on 45 minutes to bring them back within one.

Conor Smith squared the sides and would fist over another prior to a brace of points via Oisin Brady carrying the momentum for last year’s runners-up into the closing minutes.

Keaney and Darragh Lovett raised white flags late on to complete Killygarry’s total ahead of the Gaels seeing an Evann Fortune goal ruled out in the fifth minute of injury-time, as they fell to their second defeat in five days.
