Tom Prior struck a dramatic late goal to rescue a draw for Ballinamore Sean O’Heslin’s in a thrilling Leitrim senior football championship final against Fenagh St Caillin’s in Carrick-on-Shannon this afternoon.

Fenagh looked poised to claim their first county title since 1932 after a strong second-half revival, but Prior’s goal in the third minute of injury-time insured a replay as it finished 1-14 to 2-11 at Páirc Seán MacDiarmada.

Paul Moran led Ballinamore’s scoring with five points, while Dillon Beirne added three. Ballinamore made a strong start and held a four-point advantage early in the second half before Colm McLoughlin’s goal brought Fenagh back into contention.

Riordan O’Rourke was outstanding for Fenagh with six points, while Ryan O’Rourke converted a penalty and Fergal McLoughlin contributed three points.

A two-pointer from Riordan O’Rourke helped Fenagh move three clear late on, but Prior’s last-gasp goal denied them victory and made sure that the teams will have to do it all again on Saturday week, October 24th.
