Portarlington continued their dominance of Laois football with a commanding 1-19 to 0-8 win against Courtwood in Portlaoise to claim their sixth county senior football championship title in seven years.
'Man of the Match' Colm Murphy delivered a superb performance, scoring 1-5 over the hour as Portarlington proved too strong for their opponents at Laois Hire O’Moore Park.
Courtwood led for much of the first-half with the aid of the breeze, but the sides were level at 0-5 apiece at the break.
Jordan Fitzpatrick and Murphy helped Portarlington move ahead after the restart before Murphy’s goal in the 43rd minute turned the game firmly in the champions’ favour.
Rioghan Murphy and Ronan Coffey added impressive two-point scores as Portarlington pulled clear to secure a comprehensive victory for their club's 18th SFC success.
