Thurles Sarsfields ended a nine-year wait for Tipperary senior hurling championship glory with a convincing 1-19 to 1-11 win over Moycarkey/Borris at FBD Semple Stadium.
Eoin Purcell made an immediate impact, scoring a goal inside the opening 11 seconds before finishing with 1-4 to claim Player of the Match honours.
Sarsfields led 1-12 to 1-5 at half-time and, despite a determined Moycarkey response after the break, maintained their advantage to lift the Dan Breen Cup.
Aidan McCormack contributed four points from frees, while Sarsfields’ overall attacking quality proved decisive against a Moycarkey side contesting its first final since 1984.
The victory marks a 37th county SHC success for Sars, who will now look ahead to the provincial championship with confidence.
