Eoghan Ruadh, Dungannon are Tyrone senior hurling champions for the first time in seven years after dethroning Eire Og Carrickmore with a 1-16 to 2-10 victory in Omagh this afternoon.

Having lost the last three SHC finals in the O’Neill County, Dungannon opened up a 0-6 to 0-3 with the help of points from Cain Ferguson and Cormac McErlean before Eire Og found their net.

Cormac Munroe fired in on 20 minutes to square the sides prior to Eoghan Ruadh hitting three unanswered points to take in a 0-9 to 1-5 lead at the break.

The first minute of the restart saw the Dungannon men register a Cormac McErlean goal, which would be erased by Ruairi Slane’s major at the other end.

Points by Aidy Kelly and Francie Hurson kept the holders in touch before Dermot Begley, Rory Weir and skipper Ferguson sent over unanswered points which put a seal on Eoghan Ruadh’s 25th county title success.
