Truagh Gaels and Scotstown will meet in the Monaghan senior football championship final after both sides came through this afternoon’s semi-finals in Clones.
Truagh edged Clontibret in a six-goal thriller (4-16 to 2-19), recovering from a 1-13 to 2-07 half-time deficit to win out by three in the end.
James McKenna, Chrissy McKenna, Gary Mohan and Caolan Tracey scored Truagh’s goals, while Aaron Carey converted a penalty for Clontibret.
Reigning champions Scotstown booked a 14th successive final appearance after overcoming Inniskeen in the earlier game at St Tiernach’s Park.
James Hamill scored their goal, while Andrew Woods netted twice for Inniskeen, including a penalty.
Rory Beggan, Max Maguire and Jack McCarron all contributed two-point scores as Scotstown took control after the break.
Conor Jones scored a late goal for Inniskeen, but Maguire added the insurance point to send the holders through to another decider.
