Keady end Middletown's reign to claim Armagh SHC title

Keady claimed the title with a two-point win at the Box-It Athletic Grounds

Keady ended Middletown’s seven-year reign as Armagh senior hurling champions with a hard-fought 0-17 to 0-15 victory in this afternoon's county final at the Box-It Athletic Grounds.

Middletown made the brighter start, racing out to a 0-5 to 0-0 lead, but Keady, who lost out in the previous five SHC finals in the Orchard County, gradually turned the game around and led 0-8 to 0-7 at half-time.

The holders regained the lead in the second-half at 0-14 to 0-13, but Keady responded with points from Shea Harvey and Conor Renaghan before Conor Corvan added his eighth of the afternoon.

Middletown could not find a late equaliser as Keady held on to claim their first Jimmy Carlisle Cup since 2018.
