Former Kilkenny defender Brian Hogan has been appointed as the county's new U20 hurling manager.

The seven-time All-Ireland SHC winner succeeds former team mate Henry Shefflin in the role after the latter was appointed as the Cats' new senior hurling supremo last month.

Hogan is currently in charge of his home club O’Loughlin Gaels, having steered them to senior championship glory in 2023 and a Leinster title triumph. Those were followed by an All-Ireland club final appearance at Croke Park where they were narrowly defeated by St Thomas of Galway.

The city side have since been back to two Kilkenny SHC finals, losing out to Thomastown in 2024 and Ballyhale Shamrocks last season.

"Kilkenny GAA is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Hogan as manager of the Kilkenny U20 hurling team,” read a statement from the county board on Saturday afternoon.

"Brian Hogan's appointment will be brought before the County Board Delegates for ratification at the September County Board meeting."
