Newly-appointed Waterford hurling manager Stephen Molumphy is looking for players who can ‘create a winning culture’.

Describing his appointment as a ‘huge honour and a huge privilege’, the former All-Star is relishing the opportunity to make the Deise Munster and All-Ireland SHC contenders once again.

“I absolutely believe the players are there,” he told WLR.

“I wouldn’t have taken the job if I didn’t believe that. I actually think we have an abundance of talent. But talent only gets you in the door. Character keeps you there.”

He added: “We want competitors. We want fighters. We want warriors.

“We’ve already been at club games across the county and you’re looking for players who stand up in the big moments, who win the 50-50 balls and make the right decisions under pressure. Those are the players who create a winning culture.”
