Offaly U20 hurling manager Leo O’Connor has stepped down from his post after seven years in charge.
O’Connor led the Faithful County to a first ever All-Ireland hurling title in the U20 grade when in June 2024 when they defeated Tipperary by 2-20 to 2-14 at UPMC Nolan Park.
Earlier that season saw Offaly claiming back-to-back Leinster U20 crowns before achieving their historic All-Ireland success against Tipp.
Last night (Wednesday) saw Offaly county board confirming O’Connor’s departure with the following statement:
“Offaly GAA wishes to sincerely thank Leo O’Connor and his U20 management team for their outstanding commitment, dedication and leadership over the past seven years.
“Leo played a pivotal role in restoring pride and belief in Offaly underage hurling.
“We thank Leo and his management team for everything they have given to Offaly GAA and wish them every success and happiness in the future.”
