Jim McGuinness is set to meet with the Donegal county board for a review of the 2026 season in the coming weeks.

Having returned for a second stint in charge of the Tir Chonaill men in August 2023, McGuinness was handed a three-year term with the option of a fourth.

Following his team’s championship exit at the hands of Dublin last month, the Glenties man said he’d have to go back to the drawing board and “look at absolutely everything again”.

County board chairperson Mary Coughlan says that the board intend to have plans place for the 2027 campaign by the end of this month.

“We will be doing all our football and hurling reviews in the month of July,” Coughlan is quoted saying by DonegalLive.ie.

“As well as the respective management there, we’ll also be reviewing the role of the football and hurling academies with both Karl Lacey and Sean McVeigh.

“I’d like to be prepared for the new season by the end of the month. And by that I don’t mean starting the new season but to be prepared for it fairly early.”
