John Cleary felt Cork didn’t do themselves justice in their Munster SFC final defeat to Kerry in Killarney.
With Sean O’Shea, Joe O’Connor, Tom O’Sullivan, Brian Ó Beaglaioch, Paul Murphy, Graham O’Sullivan and goalkeeper Shane Ryan all unavailable for the Kingdom, it was an opportunity missed for the visitors who must now get themselves ready for the visit of Meath to Páirc Uí Rinn on May 23 in Round 1 of the All-Ireland SFC.
“We’re disappointed by the way we played. I think we’re capable of better,” the Cork manager told the assembled media.
“Hats off to Kerry, they deserved their win on the day. They played the more efficient football. I thought that we had too many turnovers, too many poor shot selections and, at this level, it comes back to haunt you.
“In fairness, we fought to the bitter end, but there were times when we took the wrong options. Next thing, it goes down the field and it’s a score for Kerry. We’d be disappointed with that. We’re capable of playing better than that and that’s the disappointing thing for us today.”
