Clare produced a brilliant finish against Cork yesterday evening to book their place in the Munster U20 hurling championship final against Tipperary.
It finished 3-20 to 2-17 at Pairc Ui Chaoimh, where the Banner lads hit the last 1-6 unanswered to see off the hosts and set-up their provincial final date next Wednesday evening.
Goals from Paul Rodgers and Marco Cleary had saw Clare holding a 2-9 to 0-11 at the halfway stage, but Cork would battle back and goal by Johnny Murphy was followed up by two James O’Brien points (one free) to level matters.
Thomas O’Connor put the visitors ahead twice in the space of three minutes, outweighing a point from Jack Counihan at the other end, but another O’Brien single would be backed up by a Barry O’Flynn goal that saw the scoreboard reading 2-17 to 2-14 in the Rebels’ favour.
Terence Fahy’s side dominated in the 10 minutes that remaining, netting through Cleary again and sending over points via Harry Doherty, Ronan Kilroy and Fred Hegarty (free) before the latter sent over two more to seal his side’s decider date with Tipp next week.
