Meath's O’Connor Cup history-maker Ciara Smyth been honoured with The Croke Park Hotel/LGFA Player of the Month award for March 2026.

Ciara was a key member of the TU Dublin team that won the prestigious title for the very first time with victory over DCU Dóchas Éireann on Saturday March 14th.

From the Skryne club in Meath, 21-year-old Ciara was superb across the competition for the newly-crowned champions.

In the month of March, she contributed five points, including four from play, as TU Dublin defeated UCC on March 4th after extra-time by just a single point in a gripping semi-final.

Not content with qualifying for the AIG O’Connor Cup Final for the very first time, TU Dublin claimed an historic victory against DCU Dóchas Éireann to deny the hosts a fourth successive crown.

In a 0-12 to 2-4 victory, Ciara delivered a Player of the Match performance and four points, including three from frees, as TU Dublin got over the line.

Ciara’s exploits earned her a place on the 2026 AIG HEC All-Star selection, with the awards handed out last Friday evening at the Bonnington Dublin Hotel.

Ciara was also on the scoresheet during Meath’s Lidl National League fixtures against Cork and Armagh this month, as the Royal County preserved top flight status.

Thoughts for Ciara and Meath now switch to the forthcoming TG4 Leinster and All-Ireland Senior Championship campaigns.

Ciara was presented with her award today by Exaucer Makivila, Meetings and Events Executive, The Croke Park Hotel.
